savale Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I just used the dfi nf4 expert board for a couple of days at stock voltages at: 275x7.0. All seems to be working very fine. But suddenly it came into a reboot loop. (also with all drives disconnected) All temps were ok, but when I took a look at the board it looks like this: http://www.xs4all.nl/~leth/got/expert/IMG_1810.jpg http://www.xs4all.nl/~leth/got/expert/IMG_1811.jpg it's bent like *** around the cpu socket. Can this be the problem of the instability? all values above 220x.... is unstable now
the_vandyl Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 why is there a bear in your lap? :shake: no that bend isn't good IMHO...RMA, those traces are microscopic and could definitely suffer from a bend like that

smolt Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I would take a close look at your board stand offs. looking like your cpu mount is bottoming out ? stand off might be to short. If not then take some rubber stickit stand offs and place around the lower side buy the pci slots to help to support that hsf. I have read other post that show the board bent like that and the memory is not seating right?
Cyberparasite Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 have you tried contacting dfi-europe directly?

savale Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 The board worked for a few days but suddenly stopped working. Though Dhr. Smith of DFI thinks it might be the PSU... Because he thinks it's normal a motherboard bent a little when mounting a cpu/cooler... So now I should try it with an other PSU first. But I think it's not normal a motherboard is bent that much... smolt Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 400 watt :eek2:
lowboy Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 If your case has all the stand offs it should hold it straight looks like you have some stand off missing. As far as PSU you are way underpowered you need to replace PSU even if board has problem.
THunDA Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 "zalman 400watt aps" That is underpowered for these boards.. I would try another one if you can just to eliminate that as a problem.. As for the bend.. I had a Lanparty 250gb that was bent like that and it worked fine.. But of course that doesnt mean its not effecting your board in a negative way.. After trying the psu I would try to contact DFI support.. If you search for a user named "Bulldog" here at the street he should be able to help you out.. (he is support for Europe)
CPDMF Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Looks like the back plate is on upside down. It may be an optical but it looks like the where the screws come trew it isn't even close to touching the board. The way it's bent it sure likes like the backplate was up against the motherboard tray and the rest of the screws were tightened
savale Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 okay so I should upgrade to a new PSU... Any suggestions? Replacing it is not a big deal. But I hope it solves my problems... I don't understand that thing about the backplate... You mean it's mounted upside down?
