Kyo Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Hi Was wondering i noticed on DFI motherboards, ie DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR, DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT, that the retention module (plastic bracket that sits around the cpu socket) which you hook the heatsink on is shaped that could allow a heat sink to be seated either facing up or down. Therefore I was thinking i could sit the heatsink facing down or up (as long there is room?) Would it allow this and more importantly is it adviseable? The reason i am querying this is that i am going to use a BTX case where the motherboard (expert) will be sitting inverted and in particular i am using a A64 freezer pro heatsink therefore it would be logical to sit the heat sink so that fan is facing the bottom of the case to allow the hot air from the cpu to be expelled properly from the top for better cooling? Hopefully this should be ok as far as i can tell the rentention module sides looks identical and almost designed to allow this. Is this the case? kukulcan Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 As long as the heat sink totally covers the cpu you should be ok.
