us002840 Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Just finished putting togehter a new DFI expert and loaded WinXP Pro and WinXP64. All went well except I am SHOCKED by the fact that the CPU FAN, its stock that came with the AMD 4800+ X2, shuts down COMPLETLY for up to a minute and than starts up again. I have already edited the bios and set ALL CPU Fan temps, under PC Health Status, to 25. The fan, spins at most, at 3800+ rpm. I am worried that the CPU is going to suffer a catastrophic failure since the fan SHOULD be running at all times???? "Cool & Quiet" is disabled. Oh, loaded the latest beta bios and did not help the fan situation Otherwise, the system is stable. Any ideas on how to keep the CPU fan running at MAX speed at all times. Thanks. fiberoptik Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Sounds like normal opertation to me. Just monitor your CPU temps from within Bios/Windows and see if your temps go nuts.
fiberoptik Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Your PC should shutdown before any thermal damage can be done.

us002840 Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Thanks for the QUICK responses. Is it POSSIBLE to have the CPU fan run constantly? I would prefer constant cpu cooling to on/off of the fan. NO fan control software loaded. Thanks!
lowboy Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Put the fan on a fan controller or hook to PSU for full on.
Vortexics Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 that happened to me all the time with the smartfguardian, then I got a fan controller, after that all fans are quiet and constanly running.
