castrol Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Hi chaps Just a quick question, I am looking at buying another motherboard, can all you overclockers out there tell me what motherboard is best I have an asus A8N-SLI PREIMUM at the moment but am not happy with it as it does not overclock very well, I was thinking of getting the new asus a8n32-sli motherboard as I have heard this is not to bad but I do not no that much about DFI motherboards but have heard good things about them and overclocking them, if you think I should go for a DFI motherboard could you tell me what one is best for my kit that I have got already. AMD FX55 2X2GB BALISIX DDR500 RAM CREATIVE SOUNDBLASTER 2ZS EARMAX 600WATT POWER SUPPLY AUSTEC WATERCOOLING 4X 120 FANS GAINWARD 6800GT OVERCLOCKED TO 450/1280 2X MAXTOR 200GB SATA DRIVES THERMALTAKE ARMOR CASE Any help would be most appreciated as I want to make the move to DFI but don’t know enough about the motherboards and what you can overclock them too. Elias Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Welcome to the fourms! Well the dfi if you would like to stay with an sli board the id say http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136151. I think the only real complaint aginst dfi is that the boards can be pickey on ram(no value memory) and it can be hard to set up. I think you have the ram issue coverd and if you have any problems I the fourms are alwasy a great help. its never a bad Idea to check out the overclocking guild too http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20823
castrol Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Hi there Thanks for the reply, would the expert motherboard be the best one to go for as i have 939 cpu or like you said the ulta-D board.
Elias Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I cant say ive heard anything good about the expert board. The big diffrence is it has 2 slots between the PCI-E slots and better chipset placement. If you plan on using 2 graphics cards then the expert board or the sli board is probably a good choice if not the ultra-D is a better value and its still an awsome board, its what im running now

Smoken Joe Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 The Ultra family is a winner and many people with your equipment are very happy. Plenty of people that have moved from the asus are very happy they did so too. Note if you get the expert make sure your PSU has the 6 pin connector for the MB in addition to the video card one. Some of the enermax have them some dont.

PLease Please covince me to change to a DFI as i have heard such good things and also some bad like the Expert board poping CPU becouse of the voltage problem or has this been fixed with a bios or is there still a problem.
