MrDak Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Hi, I just bought a DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 ULTRA-D like I should have a few weeks back. Reason I went on and did this, is,,,,,, I put the DDR booster in my Abit AN8 and accidentally had the voltage set a little bit too high, and the system stopped. Now, I am in the bios setup when this happens, So, right after I turn the knob up a tad on the DDR booster the computer shut down. I tried to clear cmos, and nothing. The board will not post. It comes on, and right when it's supposed to post, It Quits. I am just hoping that I didn't damage the cpu. My 4000+ CPU..... After clearing CMOS again, I took the CPU out of the board, and got the same thing. exactly. One friend of mine said, since I removed the chip and Im getting the same thing, I probably didn't damage the chip, just the board.. Please, Can someone give me their experienced oppinion on this, Did I just kill the board ? or both. I don't have another board or anything to test with, so I'm stuck waiting till tuesday for my Lan party to arrive... What do you guys think ? I'm at a loss.... I hoping I didn't hurt the memory controller on that chip. Thanks so much..
Angry_Games Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 best thing you can do is take the chip to a computer store and ask them to pop it in a rig to see if it will boot, or send it to one of the members here (there's a couple trusty persons in GA lol) to let them test it also best to take a known-working cpu and test in any board you are not sure about, or take the board to a comp store and let them test it
MrDak Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 That's a good idea for sure, but unfortunately, Im in a bad place right now when it comes to transportation. Getting around is a bit rough. I just recently moved to GA near to my daughter, because of hurricane Katrina, and I'm kind of without wheels. at the moment. But I'll have my DFI on tuesday, and if I can't get it up and runninng, I'll find a way. You know someone in Warner Robins GA ? There's one computer shop here in town. just one. he Tell ya what Angry, I'm glad you responded to my situation, It gives me the chance to say how much I appreciate what your're doing here. I mean, Angrygames.com, The house of angry, the NF4 LP initial build with pics..killer pics. this is some great stuff. I'm taking my time and going thru all of it especailly the bios stuff. .. sincere thanks man....
Angry_Games Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 well you can always send it to me to test for ya if you can't get any love around your area...but there's a couple guys in Georgia that are good members here so if you can at least get to a post office they could be easier to get to than shipping it to me in Idaho hopefully one of them will see this thread...
