pontare Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Hi i just built the pc in my sig, and been struggling with it for almost a day now. First when i try to install my windows xp with sp2 included it hangs on the part when it configuring my network. Othertimes it stalls also at networks settings but asking for me to insert windows xp service pack disc which i dont have and want some file "cmprobs.dll" or similar. i've upgraded to the bios andyozc has modified some 720beta, not sure. Now i've come so far that i can boot up windows but cant get network to work. Don't know what to do, feels like i tested everything. Considering installing windows 2000 with sp4, will it work? Plz help a dfi newbie. Greetz Pontare
supershanks Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Provided your windows xp with sp2 included is either an original or was properky slipstreamed. Just insert your cd when asked 4 insert windows xp service pack disc Which ethernet are u using. Nvidia or Marvell. If the latter have u intalled the drivers. pontare Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Thx for reply, i inserted the windows xp cd but it wouldn't find the file it promted for. (it froze, dvd wouldn't open) i tried both nvidia and marvell, the nvidia gets a 169.* ip and the marvell get limited connection . And since the install off windows didn't find those files (i pressed abort eventually) it wont work to repair the network card. supershanks Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Usually Windows doesn't automatically find the ethernet drivers their usually left as unknown devices in Device manager. My own preference is to d/load the drivers 1st the nvidia are included in the mobo drivers whilst the Marvel Yukon should b on your CD. or d/load from:- Marvel Yukon Drivers
pontare Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 i used the newest nforce 4 chipset drivers from nvidia.com also newest driver from yukon, i also tested the drivers on the cd that came along with mobo, no improvements. really frustrating, i've reinstalled windows xp ~10 times. i'm out of ideas
lowboy Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Have you gone into device manager and verified drivers or uninstalled the drivers then reinstalled the drivers.
pontare Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 yes, windows tells me the nics are working and all seems fine (drivers vice). also uninstalled the drivers through remove programs.
lowboy Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Are you sure all network settings are setup correct, sounds like settings are not correct for your network. When windows aked about network did you let it set up as typical config or did you config. I know one time I thought I needed to setup network but it wasnt needed an let windows do its thing and everything worked fine.
