Anakin_hollan Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Hello to you all!! A DFI n00b here, willing to absorb any info regarding my soon to be real situation. I've spent some time around the forum and a lot allready on the internet before finding this place, reading all info I could lay my hands on... I know there are "Standard Issue"-topics around, but I would like a situation-specific from you guys. Sorry about that... Ok, so, this is the new system I'm planning on: 1x DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR Expert 1x AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ (2.2 GHz) (Retail, OPGA, "Manchester", boxed) 1x OCZ DIMM 2GB (Kit, OCZ4002048ELDCPE, Dual Channel Kit) 1x XFX GF7800 GT Extreme 1x Silverstone ST60F PSU 3x Samsung SpinPoint P (HD160JJ) Pioneer DVR-108D (OEM) Pioneer DVD-121 Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS 5x case-fans hooked up to fan controll-panel I'm planning on using the rig in a dual-boot situation, Windows XP (Gaming) and Linux (Fedora Core 4), on a RAID5-setup. The questions I have are these: Is the PSU sufficient? I've read the Recommended! - NF4 Ultra/SLI Mobos:PowerSupplies-topic, and found some nice info, like this post. I also read some posts from people that wouldn't even touch the (older) models because of crossloading requirements? The PSU does have a nice 42A +12V though? And the +5V is met with, because of the 2 opticals and 3 HDD's? I'm planning on using one of these heatspreaders: Swiftech MCX6400-V or Thermalright XP-90. Both will suffice in the way of cooling the CPU, but I'm more interested in the amount of space they need, with the socket being rotated 90 degrees? Considering the PSU, I made the choice based on availability of PSU's / Features of the PSU's (Number of SATA-connectors directly on PSU, 6-point SLI connector, etc.) / credability of the companies that provide these exotic creatures... I will be looking forward to your answers! Please, don't be too hard on me... TIA!
red930 Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Please put your rig in the sig. Read, understand and follow the forum rules. It's rude to make someone click a link when they're trying to help!
Anakin_hollan Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Ok, I will. Sorry 'bout that, saw it done allready, and thought that it would suffice. Thought wrong... Also, just came over the fact that this topic could be in the wrong board? I think it may belong in "Recommendations and Hot Deals" as a "Purchase Advice" topic instead of here? Greetz!
