The Dark One Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Hi Guys a newbie here, Having problems with my new system build (only the 2nd in 5 years!) and its givin me the irrits. The thing has crashed so many times i feel like a crash test dummy! The latest are the vmon crashes (4 in 1/2 an hour) Here is the error message from the event viewer "Faulting application vsmon.exe, version 6.0.667.0, faulting module vsmon.exe, version 6.0.667.0, fault address 0x000b7000." I built the system less than 2 months ago now and ive already had to fdisk it once, system restore it countless times, remove programs that screw things up. Have it crash at least once every time i play F.E.A.R MP online ( see error message below) "Faulting application fear.exe, version 1.2.0.0, faulting module fear.exe, version 1.2.0.0, fault address 0x0006040c." I spend more time trying to fix th bloody thing up than i do using it. Im running Zone Alarm Pro which somebody told me that its not very co operative with XP Pro, but im not sure its the problem. I always ran it on my old system no probs. I keep getting WinWgmt events happening (event 5603) and "Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module mshtml.dll, version 6.0.2900.2769, fault address 0x000690bd." The whole thing sucks real bad and im loosing sleep keeping ontop of it. Has anyone got any hints?

I don't think its my MB as when i first loaded up the system i had it running good for about 2 wks. the latest probs started when i used the "Asus NOS O.C software. boosted seting by 10% then 15% ect then things stared to hang and screw up. You don't think it's motherboard-related but you run software called "Asus NOS" and problems begin... I'd say ask Asus what to do when their OC'ing software borks your system. LDog69 Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 yup "little kids playin around with things they don't know about" rings true!! As i said I'm a newbie to OC! I didn't mean it to sound like that, sorry if it seemed condescending... But the only problem I see was caused by a product branded Asus, the "NOS" software  I'd start uninstalling and work backwards (first the OCing software, then other Asus-related system utilties, then uninstall-reinstall of system drivers, etc.) Once you get back to stable (hopefully without a reinstall of win), try to isolate the buggy software, and get an update, or don't install it again. As an nF4 rule, leave off the Firewall/Network Manager and SW IDE driver if you arent using raid.
The Dark One Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 No probs LDog69, it's just that i can hear myself telling my 11y/o son not to muck with his system settings on his computer and what do i do!. I uninstalled all the offending software and still had the glitches. I ran system restore as well. Should i reload the bios to defult settings at start up to try and stablise it? I m starting to think that Zone Alarm might be part of the issue. Have you heard of any issues with it and just out of interest sake do you think that running it with a 64 bit system might have some compatibility issues? Gipse Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Bios release 06/08/05. ASUS 1005 Nice system you got Gipse whats it clocking on 3dmark 2001? I think it was about 30.000 points in 3dmark01 . Please search for my started posts, you´ll find benchmarks and detailed bios settings. I wish you good luck with your rig, if you can afford try to get a DFI and send the Asus to ebay. Gipse

Renron Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Dark, Turn off ztryone alarm first, then reset bios to default settings. If you use restore it will reset all the programs you have changed trying to get it stable! (other than the bios) Remove any OCing software (not the way to OC anyway) if that does not help then pull all the card except the video (PCIE?) and start from the begining. There is no easy way to find the culpret. Ron
gemsurf Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 A simple search of "vsmon.exe" and "Faulting application iexplore.exe" on google would lead me to believe you have either a virus or spyware/malware problem! Try reading up on some of the links google gives you and you'll save yourself a whole lot of unneeded hardware swapping.
