Guest st_clancy Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 So, I've been reduced to backtrack yet even farther, now I'm looking into a socket 754 mobo, with PCI-E and I noticed on new egg DFI has one, it looks cool, has anyone played around with this board.. and is it safe to assume that the ram that will work for the boards will be the same as the other ultraD etc. etc... I'm going to even try the PSU suggested, the sky.. something or other but, the 470w version, I don't know if this is a bad idea but I'm not thinking of doing a 7800gt anymore probably going to be the saphire 800 GT02 and just unlock it.. Thanks for the input http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16813136162 one more thing, does this board not support dual channel memory? and is that going to make a big difference if any(real time, games). thanks
Guest st_clancy Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Ok, so I found out no 754 sockets support dual channel, is there a reason for this? Also would it be better to get 1x1G + 1x512mg for a total of 1.5 or 3x512 in a single channel setup? I'm also pondering biting the bullets and getting 2x1g non matched sticks, is matched going to make a difference since its single channel? Angry_Games Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 k, so I found out no 754 sockets support dual channel, is there a reason for this? because AMD specifies that no 754's will do dual channel Also would it be better to get 1x1G + 1x512mg for a total of 1.5 or 3x512 in a single channel setup? neither...get 2x1GB I'm also pondering biting the bullets and getting 2x1g non matched sticks dont ponder anymore. Avoid this. Always get matching modules even if you do not plan to run dual channel
Guest st_clancy Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Thanks angry, I noticed in another thread you were talking about monitors and you said you had an LCD with analog connection but recommended one with DVI, Is it really worth it to get one iwth DVI, know any good sites with some reviews or "some type of benchmark", I'm already sold on your advice though and will probably pick me up one of these bad boys, I'm on a serious budget... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824024006
