Audigy 2 ZS problems.

Recommended Posts

Problem:

Audigy 2 ZS has major distortion on the right channel (left channel is ok).

I have tested the card in my old system (Asus P4C800E-DLX) and my roommates system (Abit NF7-S v2.0) and the card works GREAT.

I have already tried numerous things to get this to work correctly.

Different drivers from Creative.

Different BIOS' for the mainboard.

Different BIOS settings: default, all devices turned off except those needed, overclocked, higher voltages, lower voltages, loose memory timings, tight timings etc etc etc.

Multiple fresh installs of windows.

Checked the IRQ assignments, and it is not shared.

Checked pci bus connections and it is not shared.

Switched from PCI-1 to PCI-2 slot.

Switched PCI-E slots for the video card, and then tried each PCI slot.

Removed all SATA/ATA devices other than the system drive.

I don't know what else to do.

Do I have a bad board? The system runs GREAT, it can hit 2.6GHz on my X2 without breaking a sweat and perfectly stable for 16 hours in dual prime, all at 1.4v.

I am ready to RMA this board if I can't find a solution, I already purchased an Ultra-D for a replacement awaiting delivery.

I guess try it with the other board. If you have another sound card try that one the board. Running same operating systems on both computers? Is metal touching anywhere on the motherboard? Motherboard isn't laying flat on the case (using the stand offs)? --> Sounds like a dumb question but I had a friend that blew 3 motherboards before he relized it. Other then that, I don't know dude, looks like you've tried everthing.

XP Pro SP2 on both. Stand off's being used. I'm going to try a cheapo sound card from work (best buy) tomorrow and see if it works.

Still waiting on my karajan module to come in the mail, fedex lost my first one.

If it ends up not working I will probably just ditch it for the Ultra-D and try to RMA it and then sell it, I don't see myself using SLI at all.
