Seanie's Show Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 First of all hi, im completely new to these forums and normaly post over at the Planet, and although I dont normally beg (begging is for dogs) :dog: I beg for your help here. Today I received what I thought was my very first and Beautiful DFI lanparty UT Nforce 4 SLI expert Mobo, I couldnt wait to get home and set it up. So when I did get home, guess what the first thing is I did, Dinner can wait ! My old board which I removed everything from was a Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI Nforce 4 SLI mobo, same spec as my sig except the Mobo and was working fine, just wanted a change and had heard alot of good things about DFI's. Anyway to cut to the chase, all I get when I switch on my new machine is 3 constant Red LED's which according to the manual specifies DEFTECT CPU, is this board not detecting my opty ? I dont have another CPU to test in it, and the CPU is fine as I already checked that out again with my Gigabyte, I dont think I can flash the DFI bios cos I cant get it to post, and have tried clearing the cmos with no luck. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. If I dont get this thing working guess which board is going back ! Reinvented Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 To get it to post, try running the minimum in there. See if that works. Limit it to CPU, Video Card, Memory, and one hard drive.

Seanie's Show Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Thanks guys for your help, im dure i'll be back, is there any newer bios's for this board. Got it working, with some crap exlair 512mb ram module i had lying around, I guess DFI aint anything like Gigabyte, DFI are a hole new kettle of fish for me, Gigabyte like the good stuff, ie my corsair memory, DFI dont, it will only post using the crap stuff. :shake:
Guest Crusader Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Once you got it working with some good sticks you'll be happy you did and forget about these troubles very fast. Good luck setting it up. Newer BIOS versions are on the DFI site in the beta section.

Karajan sound module? Same thing happened to me! Then I noticed the Karajan sound module was not installed on the board (contrary to what the manual says). I installed it and everything went fine from then on
red930 Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Did you try it with a proper PSU? You need to read the stickies. The Expert board requires a 480W PSU that meets the ATX 12V 2.X and EPS spec with an 8pin CPU power connector.
