chandi Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 My system comprises off Lanparty Nf4D a64 3000+ venice at 298 * 9 vcore-1.61 ocz pc 400 platinium rev 2 @ 2.5 4 7 3 and on a 1:1 divider vdimm = 2.9 and the rest of the parts are at stock speed my temps are cpu- 38 at idle at 49-50 at load and chipset always at 50-51 no matter what degrees celsius ITs passes occt and the superpi every single time and when i game on it does not crash. however at just 3hrs on the prime 95 (the most heat most power option) errors develop now is this ok since this rig is only running for like 6-7 hours a day will there be damage in the long run coz i plan on using this rig 4 at least 4-5 years

SoyoJoe Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 It looks like you are using stock cooling, and the temps could be contributing to the errors. have u run memtest to see if the memory is stable at that speed? Since your planning on keeping for a long time it would be wise to invest in a good heatsink and fan. Just mho.
Thasp Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I agree, get a nice thermalright SI-120 with a huge butt fan on top of it, or the xp-90 with a tinier fan on top of it. My CPU is usually 47-50c at 1.65v, with a zalman 7700cu, full blast. DOesn't seem too much better.
ICON57 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 its a personal choice on weather your system is ok or not. here at dfi-street we dont consider your rig stable until you can prime for at least 8 hours. since you can run some benchies and game and you are happy with that...its your choice. I dont think you will "damage" anything as you ask. as always keep an eye on your temps. but if i were you, i would back down my oc a tad, and see where i could get prime stable. and that is where i would keep it. gl
macelius Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 ditto, the proc volts a lil high for stock cooling, watch yer temps, i would back off a bit or get a better cooler if you plan on running that long-term. if you game for as long as you prime you will probably see not-so-good to bad symptoms of the errors (game crashes to desktop or puter crashes/reboots) oh yeah, how long will it prime on blend? chandi Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 it will prime 4 3hr + max then it crashes also i have never had any issues with games crashing back to windows, could it be a mem problem then since its priming on blend as it passes occt n super pi
mingyeung Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 once again the choice is yours. from my experience, there is a good chance that over time, your system will become more unstable, in fact on that one special day, you will probarly get an unexpected error, probarly some page file issue or PFN_* or IRQL* BSOD and cause corrpution to your system. if you say that games are fine, and you are comfortable with it not being 100% stable then that is cool. that said even if you are 100% stable now, that doesn't mean in the future you won't get issues with your overclocked system. the only safe way is running stock and on Intel, AMD hmmm. please don't flame me, i only speak from experience. EdLSmith Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 How are you referencing Vcore? Is that a Multimeter measurement or a software report from a MB sensor? Several reports have been made on forum of measurements reported by BIOS and Other software being out of sync with MM measurements by .01 to .10 Volts. Your Vcore could be 1,62 - 1.71 and that is high, too high for stock cooling. Your Venice isn't going to last 3 - 4 years like that, you'll be doing good to get 3 months. Of course, that is your choice to make. I would spend a few thou for phase change cooling if I were going to run like that.
