Braunk Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 First of all sorry for my poor english.Yesterday , I mounted my new computer with the components of my signature.I installed WinXP with no problems at first ( I used a old pci graphics card , a S3 trio64+ ) and i couldn´t install the graphics card drivers but I could run superpi a couple of times without problems. After that , i bought a x600pro and I have the same problem.I couldn´t install the drivers. Then , I decided to install linux ( ubuntu ) and the installation gone OK but when the Xserver started the system crashed ( in text mode everything went OK ). After that I tried to install windows again and the CD boot but the screen get black before the installation begins. Somebody knows whats happening to my computer ? supershanks Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 hi Braunk, May be 1 of 2 things 1) Have you checked memory is stable using memtest. 2) sadly the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 sata drives give issues to many users. 2-1) [Resolved?] resolution for disappearing Maxtor drives?! 2-2) Maxtor Diamond Max 10 - Possible solutions - you may manage ok as you have the 200gb which has often worked ok & been less prone to the problems of the larger model. luck
twigboy Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 What do you mean you couldnt load the drivers? Was there a digital signature error or somthing? Also with ubuntu when you say the xserver and the system crashed what did the screen look like? Was it brown?
Braunk Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 What do you mean you couldnt load the drivers? Was there a digital signature error or somthing? Also with ubuntu when you say the xserver and the system crashed what did the screen look like? Was it brown? I couldnt install de drivers , when I execute de installer it fails and if i search de .inf file it doesnt work. And with ubuntu , the xserver starts and let me to login but when the login is correct I can´t go ahead and the screen gets brown with the gnome loader in the middle of the screen. twigboy Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 you cant install anything? no programs no nothing? that makes no sence. it would be an os problem. i would reinstall xp. reformat the whole drive and not the quick format eiter the long one. and if you want to install ubuntu you have to install it after windows. that is a must.
