macelius Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Genie bios settings in the top right corner, i strongly advise you to read and study the overclocking guide sticky at the top of the oc forum section before you tweak anything, will help you alot to print it out if you do not have a second puter to look at it with while youre in the bios
DragonTattooz Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Genie bios settings in the top right corner, i strongly advise you to read and study the overclocking guide sticky at the top of the oc forum section before you tweak anything, will help you alot to print it out if you do not have a second puter to look at it with while youre in the bios I'll second that. I've been going nuts trying to figure out how to OC this new rig. Then, I found the OC guide here and it all became clear. It really is a very good guide. I was even able to answer someone's question on this forum last night because I read the guide. One of my biggest hurdles was trying to figure out how the RAM and CPU OC worked together. Because of the way it's worded in the BIOS it confused the hell out of me. It's so simple that I'm embarrassed to admit that I was confused by it. Finns14 Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Yeah I have a second computer I can look at the guide on but I started to read the guide and saw alot of words being thrown around like HTT and other and I didn't see them anywhere in the BIOS and I started to get concerned so I came here I guess I will just have to keep reading. Angry_Games Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 if you aren't sure what those terms are, you should begin by searching this google and possibly this forum for those terms so you can have an understanding of what they mean... and if you read the OC guide far enough, there's a life-changing, earth-shattering revelation about HTT and overclocking A64's...and its earth shattering because it is explained in simple terms that you can (heh hopefully!) understand...it has changed a lot of overclocker's views of it and made it incredibly easy. especially when I told everyone what Oskar Wu, the designer, told me about HTT on this board...you don't have to fool with it. The Lanparty NF4 motherboard is designed to allow you to leave the HTT multiplier on Auto and it will auto adjust depending on your overclock. I've never taken it off Auto except when using a Sempron 939 3200+ that requires manual setting of 4x...but AMD doesn't make 939 Sempron cpu's that you can buy so its moot as for all other cpu's including Opterons *which are not supported officially* it can be left on Auto. When you get those parts read, you will start understanding that overclocking an Athlon64 is no different in reality than overclocking an AthlonXP or even a Pentium3/Pentium4. The major differences are in the crazy amount of BIOS options to tune your DRAM that come with the DFI NF3 and NF4 boards. But thats what the guide is for...to guide you through learning and understanding what all this Overclocking stuff is
