deeselcyde Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 i have a 7800 gt with the latest nvidia drivers, and when i play games such as cs and bf2, every like second my framerate will drop to 20-30 then bounce back up to around 100...this is unplayable. any suggestions? NOTE: I installed the new patch for bf2(ver 1.12) and that patch slows the framerate down for bf2 when you play it; i heard they are working on a hotfix though. But is there any way that that can be affecting cs:s or regular cs???
red930 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 There is a thread around here discussing dual-core processors having issues running some games, might want to take a look. AMD has released a supposed 'fix' for it, but apparently doesn't always work. Might want to try setting your affinity to force the game to run on cpu 0, or 1 but not both. Do that in the task manager by right clicking on the program (i.e. bf2.exe) and hitting affinity. This doesn't affect all dual cores, I've never had an issue so it may not fix it for you, but its a thought.

I doubt the bf2 patch would affect cs:s and cs, the only thing I could see is if you have saved and loaded a specific bf2 profile/settings in your nvidia settings(driver) and didnt set it back to default after. Does it do it offline? could there be some game keyboard keys bound to windows functions, does 3dmark2005 show the same symptoms?
