Problems at Boot

Recommended Posts

Powered up my initial set up using nF4 SLI-DR Expert board and the board completes POST (One Beep) and the diagnostic LED's show the system in VGA mode.

The system displays the PCI Device table then hangs, and resets. it'll do this a few times then I get two long beeps before the system enters safe mode and will go no further.

I've cleared the CMOS, this gives me a checksum error. If I enter the bios save settings and reboot it'll do the same as above, however if I choose F1 after the checksum error it'll boot from CD-ROM (to install XP) however on the next reboot it'll reset at the PCI Device table (original problem).

When it did actually boot XP setup, it claimed it was missing a .dll file. and would go no further dispite the fact the install disc has been used before with no problems.

I'm out of ideas. Something I noted was the system showing the RAID setup bios upon boot, dispite RAID being disabled in the BIOS, if I try to access the RAID setup I get a message saying 'no utility found' or simalar. i'm not sure if this is normal or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Looks like a bios/memory issue to me. I used to get almost the same sympthoms. To me it meant a bios upgrade, yet to date my Corsair is still having some issues with the board. Try relaxing timings and see what happens... or go to 2T command rate. If that solves it try some other bioses or search a buyer for the Corsair memory :(
