thunderstruck! Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Ok, so I just bought a DFI UT SLI-DR to swap my old board out and tried to boot up using the EZ Power (Don't have it in the case for initial testing). This is what happened...CPU, GFX, NB fans start spinning, Hdd starts up, memory leds are lit, everything seems to be ok, but the screen just stays black. It's properly hooked to the video card and I connected the 6pin power cord. So I look at the mobo and see that all 4 system leds (the lower-left leds on the mobo) stay lit, and the standy led stays green. Before you ask, I connected all power to the mobo, like the FDD cable (between the cpu and the video card, the VGA power (on the mobo near the PWMIC), the 12V and the 24pin cable. I even tried w/o the FDD and 4-pin gfx connected and the same thing happened. I should note that I don't have a floppy drive, or cd-rom connected if that matters. But what I don't get is why I don't hear beeps (mobo speaker = on) or even see a bios screen/post report. PLEASE, HELP!! I will swap back to my old mobo and see if it works. I really don't want to RMA the board, but I just pulled all of the components in my sig from a WORKING computer. Edit: I'm using 2x256 Giel PC3500 2-3-3-6 for initial testing. Burky Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I don't think he has made any stupid mistakes, as I have exactly the same problem. I reviewed both these threads before building, and checked again before posting, yet I still get 4 LEDs lit. I asked about this on Sharky's too, and the fact that all four were lit apparently suggests that my processor is dodgy. Can you confirm this, or suggest something else that I can do please Angry? Angry_Games Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 1x512 and 1x1024 =1.5gb of Corsair ValueRam PC3200 got any other memory to try? got any other cpu to try?
Burky Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I have no other CPU, as this is the only 939 system in my house. I don't know anybody who would be willing to let me steal their CPU for a few hours either. I did try with each stick seperately and I am running with minimum components attatched. I have a generic 256mb and 512mb I can try, but not till tomorrow (12.30am in France).
LDog69 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Please ignore if wrong/irrelevant, but haven't there been problems with the Creative Xi-Fi cards on nF4 boards? Maybe pull the sound card if you had/have it installed? I couldn't tell from your posts or sig whether you were using it at the time. Burky Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Oh, also that reminds me, the motherboard's sound ports which you have to fit on the board, that won't cause any problems would it? Is it worth trying to boot without those attatched?
thunderstruck! Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Could it be the Opteron 170? I know it's dual-core and this is a new board, but I assume it would just boot single-core mode, right? I looked at the guides and I followed the same steps. I don't know what else to conclude but a DOA. The dram led lights up. Everything is working but all I see is the standy led and 4 system status leds on the mobo. It'll just show a black screen until I turn off the PSU. Any last words?
