My new DFI LP UT NF4 Ultra-D board arrives tomorrow, and I have 2GB (2x1GB) of Mushkin XP4000 Redline (3-3-2-8) waiting for it. I chose the Mushkin because I wanted 2GB of DDR500 with fairly tight timings for a ~250 fsb oc, and Mushkin says on their web site that they test the memory on this motherboard. Also, Newegg has nothing comparable (2x1GB DDR500) with better timings.

But then I read the FAQs and guides here, and this memory is not in the recommended list. I know I shoulda come here first, but it's too late for that. Will this Mushkin memory do what I want, or should I go ahead and get something else to avoid wasting my time? My goal here is a mild overclock of my 4400+ X2, looking for around 2.5 GHz (~250x10) and around 6.5-7 GB/sec memory read (Everest).

Other pertinent hardware is: Antec 550w TP 2.0, XFX 7800 GTX, SB X-Fi. I edited my sig in advance, in case there's any confusion (I'm presently on an Abit KN8 Ultra board which I don't like). I already went down the 4x512MB road with some OCZ GE GX DDR433 2-2-2-5, and I don't have to tell you where that went. I chalk that up to ignorance, but give me a break--I'm 40 :).

Thanks in advance...

Isn't this the third thread on the Redlines within 24 hours?

I am planning on buying the Redline XP4000 1 GB (2x 512) for 150 dollars from my friend. Do you think it is worth it? Also, would my expert motherboard arise some memory issues if I am currently running OCZ 1 GB? If I get to run 2 GB worth of ram, I am really happy.

It's fine, I use it. Where is this recommended list?

The cheaper HP3200 has the same chips and will do the same, given enough voltage. :)

I got my set of these yesterday and I can say that you will be more than happy with them. I'm currently running them at 255MHz (DDR510) at 3-3-2-5 timings (at 2.8V). I couldn't be happier with them.

Test stability with 3dmark2001se - i couldnt hit 260FSB with these 1:1 - had to use a divider to get 2.6 out of both me cores.

You''ll find the advised settings by bflood (mod at mushkin forums)

Im currently putting together a similar rig for myself

first I followed this, for the first boot:

then this for general setup

the above link includes a link to these bios/ram settings

http://www.dfi-stree...read.php?t=5844

and more overclocking stuff wich I havent tried yet:

no problem with the ram, the girl at Mushkin even called me today to make sure everything was ok, and recommended I increase the voltage a bit to 2.9, wich of course I had already done anyway, lol.

Maybe these Mushkin Redline should be on the NF4 reccommended list?
