M_M Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 hey jus became a member of this forum and have had my comp for about a month now and Christmas is coming up so i would like some ideas for memery ups. It all depends on huw much money are you prepared to spend, and on what frequency you want the memory to run... But before looking on any on-line shopping sites, take a look at this review http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2560 I see you are oveclocking. Personally, I would go for OCZ PC4000 EB Platinum Edition, but this kit is quite expensive and not that easy to find. http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memo...ual_channel_kit If you can't find OCZ EB, then Corsair Twinx3500LLPRO 2GB kit is very good solution as well... Guarantied 2-3-2-6 @ 217MHz, but usualy up to 225MHz and 2.5-3-3-7 up to 250MHz. If you want something cheaper, also cosider G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 500 (PC 4000) F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ, http://www.gskill.com/f1-4000usu2-2gbhz.htm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021
muggie2 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 hey jus became a member of this forum and have had my comp for about a month now and Christmas is coming up so i would like some ideas for memery ups. I'm running 2x512MB Mushkin Redline XP4000, and apart from some problems tweaking them to the timings I want, they're great. Need active cooling though, so you have to have a fan blowing air across them when they're running fast. They're at timings of 2-3-2-5 at 3.1 volts, and seem to be damned fast indeed. Now, if I could just get the timings to 2-2-2-5 it'd be good, but I can't seem to get that stable at any speed or voltage.... Of course, if you're wanting to play Battlefield 2 or similar games, 2x1GB would be better than the 2x512MB I have. And if you don't want to throw too much voltage at the memory, the Samsung TCCD and TCC5 chips seem to be pretty good. Keep on reading, I'm sure there'll be lots of people to throw some ideas your way on what they have working well. Muggie2
