HSF quits

Recommended Posts

After a long wait for the mobo I started the build. Things went fine until about the 4th boot up. I booted up to go back into BIOS to diable MemTest & suddenly the fan on the heat sink quit. It would start spinning upon boot up and then just quit. I then tried the stock HSF & the same thing happened. I really hate to have to RMA the board. It was bought from Monarch & they are the slowest distributor I have ever seen. I can only imagine how long a RMA will take.

Any ideas what is causing the fan to stop?

Amazing.

I guess I should have explored BIOS a little more. Once I noticed the fan stopping I'd shut down. This is the 1st board I've had that shuts the fan off if CPU temp is low. I changed the CPUFan Fully ON if CPUTemp> 25C but since the setup isn't in the case I can't get the CPUTemp past the 25C to check if the fan will turn on.

I use this:

and the large fan must be cooling it down quite a bit. I'll try it w/o the fan running.

Thanks so much for the help.

Once I brought the CPU Temp up the fans engaged. This will make the Zalman fan controller unnecessary.

I worried for nothing.

Now on to bigger & better things!
