kong Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Hello all, This is my first DFI board and my second time building my own system, so I still have a lot to learn. Anyways, I had some issues getting the system running and ended up spending a few days reformating and such. First problem: I had my Corsair 3200C2PRO 2x1024 sticks in the yellow slots to begin with. Well it worked, but I would end up getting random lock-ups on desktop, not to mention all of my games would result in a freaky screaching crash (sound card). Solution for first problem: Removed my 3200C2PRO 2x1024 sticks, and put in my 3200XLPRO 2x512 sticks in the orange slots this time. Well this hasn't given me any problems whatsoever. I was able to play BF2 without any problems and I havn't experienced any freezing. Where I stand now: Well I would like to be able to use my other sticks of Memory giving me 3gig's instead of 1gig. However, when I put the 2x1024 sticks in the two yellow slots, Windows nor my Motherboard will read/recognize it. It still runs fine, but the extra memory is not working. Just some things I have done: -Tried adjusting the DRAM Frequency to 166 and then 250 or whatever the 1:1 ratio was. Didn't work. -Switching the 4 sticks around from the yellow to the orange slots and visa versa. This didn't work, it didn't boot to windows. -Updated the BIOS to PCB Revision A (NF4EDB02). I havn't tried: -Putting the 2x512's (by themselves) in the yellow slots. -Putting the 2x1024's (by themselves) in the orange slots. So what I need help with is getting all of my memory to run, if this is at all possible? I did have all 4 sticks working fine on my old P4 system so I am positive my memory is good. Any help would be greatly appreaciated, thanks.
RGone Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 you would have to be super duper lucky to get the C2Pro and XLPro to work together as I am fairly certain the individual memory ICs are totally different. The SPD's don't match and that spells trouble if the sticks themselves do not respond to serious manual tweaking. I would think you could get the 2x1gig sticks to work though in the orange slots by themselves if you manually tweak the timings and up the voltage to about 2.7 volts for a start. RGone... kong Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Well, like I said they had all worked together on my older system. I might try the 2x1gig's in the orange later. So it would be safe to assume these will not work together on this board....too bad.

kong Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I appreciate your quick responses. I put the 2gig's in like you suggested and adjusted the voltage to 2.9 volts. Is there anyother settings I should adjust inorder to maintain a stable system? Or should I leave them at the optimized defaults?
