charlie22911 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 well, ive borrowed some 2x512MB crucal ram from another machine 3 days ago and tried to see what i could hit. well, it does the same thing as my KVR, spd timings were 2-2-2-6 i believe. one stick would work fine, as soon as i added the other stick i can run a game for ~5mins then it reboots. its not heat or my PSU, already solved those problems. tried at FSB 133,166,200 and 230. all were just as stable in memtest but all crashed in windows after a certain amount of ram intensive operation. not sure what the deal is, does anyone know if 1gb sticks work in these boards? EDIT: i should mention im not trying to run dual channel.

Majin Vegita Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 is cpc on or off? if it's on try turning it off. and let us know the outcome
charlie22911 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 i know i have the lanparty logo in my sig, but thats standard for a toaster, my toaster is with the U400S-AL. i can run 230x11 all day long no problem on my U400S with the cas3 KVR, but it crashes at any speed with any ram. i dont have bios options for any timings execpt for the very basics (which is at 2-3-3-6 now). ive tangled with this for quite a while and decided to try again. CPC is default to 2t unless i set timings to "turbo" in which case it does set CPC to 1t. ive tried every combination of timings, FSB and clock with the same results. im going to try the L12 wire mod which failed before, im hoping to find out if a 1Gb stick will work in this board. Kid Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 well like i posted early this year i had problem with the board itself trying running it at dual memory, but didn't happen until i found that the Geil value ram, the one that was told to me that they don't work on my board actually is running at 2.5-3-3-5 2.8v 222x11 (1.65v) 2600+ mobile Barton 266fsb processor it all take time and combination of it, right now i'm folding on it so far 4hr, about to be 5hr folding at 100% with temps of 42c ( in air) that the highest it would go room temp is 70c
charlie22911 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 what heatsink you have? 70c is too hot, 80c is the max the cpu can take before it shuts itself off... im not trying to run dual channel if thats what you mean, just want 1Gb ram so i can happly play HL2 lost coast, BF2 and pH34r... Kid Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 My APT temp is 70c, my cpu temp is 42c (100%loaded)
charlie22911 Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 well im starting to think it has something to do with the bios settings like APIC, i currently have APIC on at 230x11 one stick of ram at 2.5-3-3-6 2.9v (always run my ram 2.9v) and cpu at 1.8v. that ran fine, left HL2:Lost coast run overnight, was still runnin when i got up for school (HL2:LC is very memorycpu demanding). if i turn APIC off it runs fine as well, but install the other stick i wont even show the windoes logo, turn it on and it gets to desktop but crashes as soon as i load the system with a game... medianOCer Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Have you tested both sticks separately, or do you know if they're both okay? What's the exact model number of the Crucial sticks, and are they the same type of sticks? Are they single or double sided sticks? Saklander Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Hello Everybody! I too seem to have this problem (or similar), my machine just freezes and I need to reboot, this often happens when encoding video. It has to be something with my mobo or perhaps memory because I have done this for a long time on my old configuration and the thing I changed was the mobo and bought new memory.
