DRAM Respone Time - what's that?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

What does the "DRAM Respone Time" option in the DRAM config menu influence?

Values are Normal, Fast and Fastest...

Thanks for help!

That is the reference but I've never seen an answer to @noxman's question in there.

@noxman all I can say about the Dram Reponse Time is that if you set to fastest, it could knock your stability in the butt. I start with Norrmal and then try raising a notch at a time to check effects. With really hot memory you can run Fastest atup to say 250 but when you go high you have to readjust so I use Normal unttil time to tweak.

thanks for help

I didn't remark any changes in speed/bandwith with "fastest" or "fast" in comparison to "normal"

--> I'm going to user normal all the time

DRAM Response time sets the Max Async Latency and Read preamble to various values if you have them set to auto...fastest being the tightest settings...slower being the loosest settings.

If you set those 2 values manually....DRAM response time has no effect :)

Wow, now I understand why I've gotten into a jam a couple times on those.

Thanks AndyOCZ
