Bodhaguru Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I just added a 2nd HD to my rig (slave on primary channel)& it's showing it as drive:F. Is this OK/normal? Also,is it possible to change its drive letter to 'D' & make the optical drives 'E' & 'F'? TIA
CPDMF Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 You can use disk management under administrative tools to change drive letters. Or you can uninstall your devices excluding the C drive and reboot.

Bodhaguru Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Thanks again. I meant reinstalling the devices, not the drive letters.
Donski Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I think doing it in Disk Management is the better way to go. Once you assign a drive letter, XP will remember it so if you physically remove it and then reconnect it, it will keep that assigned drive letter. This comes in handy with removable drives. Also you can choose any letter you like, instead of letting Windows start with D and work its way up. As an example, I use M for my music drive and V & W for my DVD writers. The way I get to Disk Management is to right click on My Computer and choose Manage.
