Lord AnthraX Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Just got My Opteron 175 today:) Looking to tease it with 3 GHz
Sorrento Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Well system has been running for a week now, new PSU is rock solid. Problem is the Opteron 175, and its not necesarily a problem: max overclock is 2.75ghz Thats with a ton of voltage (1.6v), have tried lowering it but at 1.575v Prime95 core1 fails after 2 to 4 hours. And this is really funny because with stock voltage it can clock up to 2.5 ghz Prime95 solid... 2.75ghz is the 24/7 setup, and I am very pleased with it... but coming from a San Diego that clocked 2.90 ghz 24/7 it feels as if I didn't moved forward. Ohh well, Oblivion really takes advantage of the dual core... hope newer games do the same. Will post pictures tomorrow.
Supercharged Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 now i downclocked it to 2.77ghz and run 9/10 with my rams yet for the first few hours it was prime95 stable for core 1(forgot abt running on both cores) the shorter results is based on my core 2 ignore the 11309hrs on my core1 (cleared the cmos but forgot to set the time back) so stable or not ? Sorrento Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 wow, it ran for 11309 hours and finally failed??? LOL, I wish my system was 1/100 as stable. Must be a glitch or bug in Prime95... anyway here are mine, its a shame the cpu isn't as good for overclocking  Using 1.425 / 113% voltage, anything lower and the test fails after 2 to 4 hours. Tried 255 x 11 with the same voltage and test failed before 2 hours. On the good side the no games require 100% cpu usage, not even the dual core ones. Only time I saw 100% cpu usage or something near that was with 3dMark06.

ReelFiles Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Oh, that's not good for the OCDB, if it's that easy to cheat. Hopefully people will do the right thing.
Evil Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Must be a glitch or bug in Prime95... anyway here are mine, its a shame the cpu isn't as good for overclocking I think your cpu is getting too hot, pop the ihs and you´ll get better results. The biggest problem of these dual core opterons is temperatures. Popped the ihs on my dual core and here are the results:
