racinjimy Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 lol, don't worry, i know cpu's is a luck of the draw kinda thing. any good tut's on removing the IHS? found a crappy one on a forum but i'd have to reg to see the pics.. lame. the easiest way is to use a safety razor split in half, it shoudl take about 10-20 minutes to do this thread has success and failures.................... finagle69 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 thanks EDIT: should i use a different BIOS for the Opty? i see you're using the 704 one, i'm using the 6/23-3 one that came with the board for my winchester. from what i've read, the 6/23 is ok for dual cores right? will i need the hotfix too? winxp is installed and up to date already, i'll just be swapping out the chips basically. finagle69 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 i'll have mine thursday, have to remember to write down the stepping. what is the best break-in for these opty's if you plan to oc? just put her in and crank up the fsb? or run at stock for a bit? should you burn it in with burnk7 or prime on stock first, then shoot up or no?
