Jero Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 So, I'm formatting my drive, and it is showing up as like 130000 MB and it is a 250g drive...any ideas?
davidhammock200 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Do you have SP1 or SP2 installed?
Guest Hudson Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Does your controller that's running the drive support 48-bit LBA? --Hudson
Jero Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I haven't installed any OS yet...I'm formatting for the first install. And it's plugged into my motherboard....so that's my controller.
Guest Hudson Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Is it the board in your sig? 'Cause the "Ordered" heading led me to believe you are currently using other equipment. If it's an older board, it may not support 48-Bit LBA, which means a 137 GB limit. --Hudson
Reinvented Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 You need to have an OS that has at least SP2 prior to formatting your HDD to display all 250GB's of your HDD. And the formatting utility is in the Windows Installer, so you'll have to slipstream SP2 into your CD so you can get a proper install instead of having two partitions. Jero Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Can I use all 250gb's even if it doesn't show it? or will it actually limit me to 130? I am using the comp listed in sig...just booting it up.
Chiugai Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 This problem happened to me, just 2 nights ago. You'll still be able to get the rest of your GB. You just have to create another partition, which is no big deal, and you'll have it all.
