Sketchpad Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi, I am trying to OC my 3200+ Venice. I have read a lot of the threads around for OC details and seem to have everything set-up ok. The problem I have is that whatever change I make in the BIOS it defaults back to 'standard' settings once I get into Windows (XP SP2). The BIOS tells me eg. 2150Mhz, but CPU-Z shows up with 2010Mhz... I have disabled Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS, is there something else I should change in Windows? I have already set my 'Power' options to 'Always On' after reading another similar post. thanks guys.
Razorback Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 IMHO if you follow the guidlines in this thread: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20823 You shouldn't have ANY problems or minimal problems with a definite way to back up and regroup and it also apears to me since I am NEW here also that in my inital perspective is that many would really like to OC their pc but think that their is some kind of ' quick fix ' that takes a minimal amount of time ' just plug in a few settings ' and your done.... I don't wish to sound harsh but NEW people come here thinking that this is a GREAT forum to find answeres ' which it is ' but have no patience in going about OC'ing methodically. I do hope you find the answer your looking for. Good luck....

Sketchpad Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I've spent many an hour/week clocking my old Barton-M (those were the days ) - I understand the procedure for OC'ing a chip properly. I'm fairly sure the problems I'm having now are to do with Cool 'n' Quiet being enabled... ...but I can't find an option to turn it off! (It's DISABLED in the BIOS - it's XP I can't find an option for...)
THunDA Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 If its disabled in bios thats all that needs to be done.. Please add your bios revision and psu brandmodel to your sig..

On other forums, people ask me "how do i oc these?" followed by their rig set-up like this...Asus mobo/AMD3000+/1 gb of ram/250gb hdd....and then i redirect them to researching what they are doing and tell them that it takes quite a bit longer than 15 minutes to get the results they imagined. As far as the issue in the original post here...take a step back and do your changes one at a time and test each change before attemping another. All you need to do is turn off CnQ in the bios. Sketchpad Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 (sorry for posting in the wrong Forum and now updated sig) K8 Cool & Quiet : DISABLED ...as it has been the whole time, I'm still defaulting to standard timings when I get into XP. The BIOS is reading the Current CPU Frequency is: 2150Mhz - just not XP
