mikesm Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi. I have a DFI NF4 Ultra running the 6/23 production BIOS which as far as I can tell is the latest official BIOS for this board. There is a bug that occurs in the BIOS when the system resumes from S3 standby the CPU fan goes to 100% speed because of some error in reading the CPU's temperature. A reboot fixes this, but since I value quiet and use S3 suspend a lot, this is very annoying. I have sent emails to DFI and they acknowledge the bug, but it's been so long since a new BIOS has been available for the board I am wondering if anyone is working on new BIOS's for this line of motherboards anymore. And I'd love to have one that fixes this annoying fan control problem. I love this motherboard and it overclocks like a dream, but it's been almost 6 months since a BIOS update has happened and there are bugs that need fixing. What's going on? Thanks, Mike
Guest Tmod Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I don't have any DFI company insight but I would say they are spending there time on the new Crossfire and NF4 Infinity lineup. Tmod
soundx98 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Personally, I wouldn't get my hope up for a new bios that fixes the S3 issue. Last Bios 7/04 and today is 11/07. so call it 4 months. And very honestly I don't think any new bios will get the board faster so it's doubtful we'll see one. Just my Opinion though. You are effectively saying the product has been end of life'd from a support perspective, even though they are still selling large amounts of them as premium products. I don't understand this mentality. Thanks, Mike
soundx98 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I was definately not saying anything of the sort. NF2 and all older boards are still supported. I was stating MY opinion. The resume from S3 has always given me fits on the NF2 and NF4. But I'm overclocked 24/7 and very seldom shut the rig down, and I definately don't use the standby/hibernate functiuons. The only fan I have plugged into the mobo is the DFI chipset fan. I just prefer it that way. DFI has a LOT of motherboards available for all types of users and I just FEEL that more support will be going to the newer boards as Tmod stated earlier.
