Zoli Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi guy, My problem is that I can only run at stock speeds. In my sig it says that I'm overclocking, this was true until about a month ago when I reinstalled my Windows and I went from SP2 to SP1. I've done this because I had SP 2 Beta version with Direct X 9b and it would not install DX 9C. I've tried SP 2 final but it still disturbed me that it would not install other versions of DX 9C than it's default (there are quite a few versions of DX 9C..... april edition, august edition, .....whatever edition). Anyway the thing is that with Win XP SP1 I can only work with sock speeds, if I try any FSB value changes, even very small ones like from 200 to 205 I get blue screens at windows start up or sometimes I make it to deskptop but I get the blue screen when I'm loading FEAR. Now I cannot understand what's going on, I know my PSU is kind of weak but the oc worked before and now it does not, and it's kind of ridiculous that I cannot go from FSB 200 to 205. I mean even if this PSU is crap still at these values should work, my cpu is a 3000+ not a monster. Now, it's probably worth mentioning that with the previous windows I used the nvidia drivers from tha DFI CD that came with the board, the second time I used the ones on the DFI site. Any help would be appreciated
davidhammock200 Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 It is too small, but I don't think it is the cause of this problem. Zoli Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Yeah, it's probably not the PSU, now I'm starting to think that it may be the RAM I keep reading on the forum that Corsair and DFI don't really mix, but I still don't get it why it worked the first time. I also read that it's not a good thing to install the SW ide drivers, could the drivers have anything to do with this? I have the ones in question installed. That is what changed, so that is most likely the root of your problem. Were you getting errors trying to install DirectX, or was it just not doing anything? Zoli Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Boppo, the Windows XP Pro SP 2 that I had before would not install DX9c, it wasn't doing anything except jumping to the end of the install proces saying that all components are installed and ready to go but dxdiag was still saying that the current DX version on my system is DX9b...... this is no way to play F.E.A.R. SP1 installs anything I want, the problem is the OC, I can't do it! And this is funny because this OS runs rock solid at stock speeds and my system is stable at FSB 240,(I knows this from before the OS change). I don't get it! If the hardware is stable at FSB 240 how come a Win Xp is not stable at FSB 205 but at 200 runs flawless. However you have a point and it could be the OS at fault here.
