keepaf1 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 i have just bought a second LEGEND 6600GT PCI-E 256MB TV-OUT DVI card to run in SLi.the problem is that the second card is red (the first card is green) and the s/n is different, first card (green) - NE6600G+TD21V705001599 second card (red) - NE6600G+TD21V905002734 but the p/n's are the same -NE6600G+TD21-PM8C43. does this mean they are the same cards and can be run in SLi or do i have to return the second card ? any help much needed
red930 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 As long as they are using the same GPU and have the same BIOS version, you'll be just fine.

keepaf1 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 have finally got my rig up and running in SLi.everything is going sweeet.am using the forceware 81.85 whql approved drivers.i just got to sort out my temps on the cards(1st card temp - 85c and the second card temp - 39c)something is off with these temps.both have silverprop waterblocks with 1/2 barbs. keepaf1 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 i have remounted the gpu block and now have a temp reading of 47c for the first card (was 85c) and 37c for the second card. is it usual for two different temps for two cards in sli ? i realise that the first card is recieving the water from the cpu but then it flows to the second card which has the lower temp! is this common ? PC1X1 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 First card taking most of the burden, thats why, max out settings on a game, and they should have relatively same temps, !!! Toyota Heater Core!!! Clarify please.
keepaf1 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 First card taking most of the burden, thats why, max out settings on a game, and they should have relatively same temps, !!! Toyota Heater Core!!! Clarify please. i would have thought that 10c difference was too much and that the second would be hotter as it has the heat from the cpu and the first gpu going through it. i am using a heatercore (from the cars interior heater) out of a toyota(not sure what model toyota) instead of a rad.i can put two 120mm fans on the heatercore and they fit perfectly.alot cheaper too ($20.00nz) the only problem i have is that the fans i am using are very quiet but very low rpm (1200) .i have two more coming with a much higher rpm (and unfortunately a higher db rating - 1300rpm-3000rpm at 17dba-44dba). i can control the speed and noise with a REOBUS fan controller
keepaf1 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 i have the temp prob sorted.i remounted the first card again and now have a 7c difference between the two cards.much better (32c - 1st block and 39c - 2nd block) which makes more sense. Nil Einne Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 S/n generally means serial number so generally speaking, you should NEVER have two cards of the same brand and type with the same serial number, especially if the p/n (part number) is also the same! If you do, this would indicate that the manufacturer probably seriously screwed up somehow. BTW, serial numbers are supposed to uniquely identify a card. Also every single card is unique. There is no such thing as two card being the same card. :-P It's physically impossible (at least as far as I know, I'm not an expert at quantum physics though). P.S. As others have said, what you wanted are two cards that are very similar, specifically, have the same bios and GPU.
