Dead RAM slot?

I have a weird boot issue. And you might presume that after pushing this poor old DDR400 to memory to 287Mhz I might have damaged it, but it works fine in slots 1 & 3 of the mobo so no problems there. When using slot 2, though, I power on the system and the RAM isn't detected during POST, but if I press the reset button sometimes it boots fine. If I power the system off and turn the PSU off at the switch, reboot, again the RAM isn't detected. It's annoying, but no big deal as I still have 2 slots. Maybe I damaged slot 2 while inserting the RAM? I've done this quite a lot recently when trying each stick in different slots. Does this sound like it might be the case? Or could OCing so high on the RAM have caused the problem? I'm stumped!

Yep, sure it's worked fine until a few days ago. I just had this RAM at 287Mhz, 2.9V, slots 1 & 2. Slot 3 is weakest in my board.

I have cleared the BIOS (removed battery overnight) and all the usual stuff, but I guess I might have damaged it when taking the RAM in and out of the slots. Nothing else seems likely, unless of course I somehow damaged through high overclocking, but I doubt that very much.
