uKveld Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 i gave up trying to get raid0 working with my raptors, i tried everything besides going and buying a ps2 keyboard which i wont be doing, i tried a usb-ps2 adapter but it locks up still in the ati raid setup screen and the si3114 setup works to make the raid0 set but windows setup still doesnt allow me to install on it. ill be sending this board back to the place i got it, i never paid good money to be a beta tester, and go back to my ultra-d for now. I have that same problem but with Samsung HD160JJ HDDs... doesn't matter wich controller/driver it gives always the same result: Windows Could Not Found a Hard Drive... very very frustrating! They do work in SATA mode just not SATARAID even with the F6 driver...
Kabong Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I have a little different problem, it may be helpfull to someone try and understand what's going on with this RAID driver/controller. I tried to install windows XP Pro SP2 on two WD2500KS drives in raid0. These two drives where connected to ports SATA3 and SATA4. Raid creation was OK, but windows setup could ot format the array (no quick NTFS format, no standard NTFS format). Tried all I could remember of, tried different SATA cables, always a no go. I noticed this strange thing: The ATI SATA controller seems to be composed of two SIl 3112 Dual port SATA controllers. The most stupid thing was that the SATA3 and SATA4 port controller is initialized before the SATA1 and SATA2 and, guess what, the firmware revision of these two controllers is different, and the SATA1/2 firmware revision is newer than the SATA3/4 firmware. After seeing this, I connected the WD2500KS hard drives to SATA1/2 and the 2x Maxtor 120GB to SATA3/4. I created the RAID 0 array, and... windows setup could finnally format the RAID0 and installed windows on it. Now, Windows is installed, and there is another RAID that needs to be formatted. My 2x Maxtor 120GB drives are in RAID1 in SATA3/4. Raid was created without problems in SIl BIOS. Guess what ? Windows is AGAIN unable to format the raid1 in SATA3/4. As a final test, I have deleted the RAID1 and formatted both 120GB drives without a problem. So, I would like to see a FINAL BIOS with these strange bugs fixed. I have no other problems with the initial BIOS, and I don't want to flash a BETA BIOS. Regards,

OldGuy Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Anyone got the Raid on this motherboard working at all? Please post how... Make sure you prep each drive individually using some kind of disk utility. In my case the Hitachis don't have anything so I use my maxtor max blast software. Works fine. Aside from that use channel 1/2. Make sure they are enabled in bios and set as raid controller. Set em' up using the raid utility and reboot and set the array first in the boot order. Start the OS install and make sure to hit F6 and load the raid drivers (SIL 3*12)...After that it should work but as you can see from other posters it is not going smoothly for everyone. Certainly didn't for me at first. This board has some controller issues that need to be addressed...

Guest reg Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 only in xp 32(both on 3112 and 3114, using dfi web site 1.0 driver) or in 64 on 3114 with silicon image web site drivers but very very bad performance. i managed to load the ati raid drivers from the south bridge package off ati, after install but couldnt swap the raid over to it as it just looses the array. cannot at present find a f6 instalable floppy for the 3112. the same ones which work when running allready f6 intall cannot see any drives. however, using the driver off dfi in windows xp 32 bit is just fine for me on raid 0 either conroler. http://eu.dfi.com.tw/Upload/Driver/RDX200_RAID_F6.exe i find ignoring the other posted drivers for raid and using this works fine and fast
