RDX200 Raid and boot problems

Recommended Posts

Just got the rdx200 today, installed it, went to setup my raid0 array with my 2 74gig raptors, tried every which possibility, ati raid and the sil3114 raid. ati raid of the sb450 chipset hangs in the raid config so thats a no go, with the sil3114 raid setup it works to create the raid array but winxp setup says it cant find any hd's, and yes i loaded the raid drivers with the f6 key during setup. wondering if anyone else could share how they setup theirs.

also after rebooting a gazillion times, from trying diff optionsi n the bios, when i save a bios config, and reboot it hangs, when i try a different raid config it hangs, when i reboot in windows it hangs on the post screen and sometimes right after the raid bios setup screen before windows loads.

help please.

hi forget the ati raid

use si3114

make sure that create raid array with using sil raid utility by pressing f4 on boot up

then sellect drives u want to add follow on screen prompts and save exit reboot

yea i did that, then went to install windows, pressed f6 loaded the sil3114 sata raid driver, and the windows installer doesnt find a hd to install on

try the latest F6 drivers for this board on teh dfi.com.tw download page

I've been able to get SATA RAID to load F6 drivers and install windows no problem (on the ATI SI3112A controller, not tried the 3114 controller yet), but I still have the yellow exclamation point in Device Manager, and I have tried SIX different RAID drivers that I have pulled (even old DFI Lanparty 865PE P4 board that had the Si3112A controller on it) and none of them will load

I had the same issue. Showed the raid controller using a microsoft driver in the device manager. Right click on the scsi/raid controller, properties and update driver. Select "Display list of known drivers..." Select have disk and browse to the "ATI" folder on the floppy. It will tell you that the device driver may be incompatable or not certified or some such BS but install it anyway. No change in performance but at least the correct driver is displayed and no more yellow exclamation...

Haven't tried the 3114 either...

r u enabling any sata ports from bios

i gave up trying to get raid0 working with my raptors, i tried everything besides going and buying a ps2 keyboard which i wont be doing, i tried a usb-ps2 adapter but it locks up still in the ati raid setup screen and the si3114 setup works to make the raid0 set but windows setup still doesnt allow me to install on it. ill be sending this board back to the place i got it, i never paid good money to be a beta tester, and go back to my ultra-d for now.

I don't blame you one bit. I would do the same thing.

I'm still frustrated over RAID myself (and I have tried everything I can think of, even the suggestions here, and it won't do anything but give me the yellow exclamation point...and my ATTO/HD Tach scores are far below my NVidia NF4 scores...and my NF4 just feels snappier on the hdd transfers)
