X-FI bad?

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere that the X-fi graphics cards do not work with the present DFI boards? can someone verify this, and am I not correct?

Kinda wierd if it's true.. X-fi is top of the line for gaming audio...

-let me know!

I assume you meant sound card, and yeah apparently there is a problem with them working with any nf4 board. Just get an audigy2 or something, I guarantee it'll sound the same, probably cheaper now too. :)

I'd disagree about the audigy2. the X-FI, or indeed any other decent sound card, given quality speakers/headphones will sound better than an audigy2 due to no resampling of 16bit content, better DACs etc. I've owned an audigy2 and sold it for a chaintech av-710 as the av-710 sounded better for headphones (not for 5.1 speakers) despite being 1/3 of the price (audigy2 had a harsh high end with music, which the av-710 didn't when using 2 channel mode). Anyways wait for a bios update shouldn't be long. Most other motherboards have already got fixes

I had to upgrade BIOS to 623, play around with the PCI slots, eventually, the drivers installed and the board was recognized.

Well worth the time spent - BF2 sounds AWSOME on a Sennheiser HD-600 phones! Forget Audigy stuff if you can afford a good system like this....
