qazwersder Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I have a nf4 ultra D, opteron 144 and 1 gig (2x512mb) of ocz platinum rev 2. I am unable to run any memory in dimm slots 3 and 4, regardless off whether I have any in 1 or 2. I have tried running memory in slots 1 and 3, 1 and 4, 2 and 3 and 2 and 4 but none of them work. I am only ble to run the two sticks in slots 1 and 2. I have tried upping the voltage to 2.8volts, running timings of 2-3-2-5 (spd timings of 2-2-2-5). On boot up, when using any slots other than 1 and 2, 3 or the red diagnostic lights will stay on and i will get one beep with a pause then the same beep again. Both sticks work on their own in slots 1 or 2 but do not work in 3 or 4 (i think this is expected). On first boot after resetting the bios with ram in slots 2 and 4 (orange slots) the system will hang with two red led's and no beeps. Does anyone have any ideas what is goin on? It just doesnt seem to like slots 3 and 4, and running my memory in dual channel would be nice.

RyderOCZ Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 2 LED's? That is Video no detected. If you have 3 LED's then that is no ram. Check the video card and make sure its seated correctly. What bios are you running?
qazwersder Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Wow quick replies. The two Leds only comes on after I reset the cmos, otherwise it is the 3, i did wander about that myself but it is usually the 3 leds (just like when i tried booting up this time with ram in slots 2 and 4). The video card is definately seated correctly, it runs fine with ram in slots 1 and 2. I need a hand as to how to find which bios im running as this is my fist dfi (and A64) system and im not sure how to find this. I shall sort my signature now... Thanks. StephenC Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 You will need to set "Full Screen Logo Show" in bios, under advanced features, to disable. When you start posting your bios version will display in the lower left corner of your screen. My guess is you are flashed to either 1-25-05 or 3-10-05. I suggest you flash to bios version 623-3. This is the latest official bios. I would also suggest beta bios version 704-2bta. This is in my opinion the best all around bios for these boards. It will give you full support to all your RAM slots.
RyderOCZ Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Ok....so if you clear CMOS with ram in orange....you get 2 LED's ? But if you clear CMOS with ram in Yellow.....you get 3 LED's ? If you have not flashed the bios you have 310 more than likely....which that Opty could be causing issues. Boot with 1 stick in the farthest orange from CPU and flash the bios to the 623-3 official from the DFI website would be my first recommendation. Then we can troubleshoot your ram issues. ******Dang it Stephen....you got the fast hands tonight :shake:
qazwersder Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Its RAM in either slot, yellow or red, which will cause two LEDS after CMOS reset but any other boot after CMOS reset it will give me 3 LEDS. Hope i can update BIOS with a USB flash drive cause i have no floppy drive until tomorrow at least.
