Sabreliner Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Hello, I recently purchased 2x1024 Corsair PC3200 XMS dimms to replace my 2x512 Corsair PC4400 dimms. It seeems that games take much longer to load with thte newew memory than when I had the older memory. I read some forums and used some recommended timings of 2-3-3-6. Everything runs stable and passed a 30 minute memtest with no problems. Any quick and dirty suggestions as to why my new memory seems to be running slower than the older ram? I realize that the newer ram is only PC3200 as opposed to PC4400 but I would thing 2 gigs of PC3200 would still be noticably faster than 1 gig of PC4400. I'm running everything in dual chan btw. Fight Game Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 You'll need more than a half hour of memtest, and I suggest running other benchmarks like Prime95 (torture test for 8hrs) and 3dmark 05 and/or 03. Have you adjusted any other ram settings going from the old to the new? Is windows recognizing all 2gb? Also, you may need to update your bios for that cpu.. Squid1 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Timings higher than normal wouldn't result in a higher load time. Must be something else.
