BiffSteel Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Hello. I have a LanParty UT nF3 250GB board - other specs in signature. I've upgraded video cards putting in a eVGA e-GeForce 6800 card. I'm getting Blue Screens of Death whilst playing games Call of Duty, Battlefield 2 demo, and Call Of Duty 2 demo. Did not have any problems with the Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro. BSoD information below: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL nvmcp.sys STOP: nv4_disp.dll STOP: nvapu.sys STOP: vsdatant.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA STOP: nv4_disp.dll STOP: nv4_mini.sys DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP: win32k.sys win32k.sys I've loaded version 5.11 of the nVidia drivers today (11/2), still get BSoDs. I've loaded XP Pro SP2 on the SATA hard drive and still get the BSoDs. Now on my second eVGA e-GeForce 6800 video card, same problems. Has any one experienced this before? Soundgarden Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Do you have the option to turn off fastwrites? If you do I would try that since when I borrowed a 6800 to figure out what was my systems problem that stupid fastwrite had problems with the BFG 6800GT but once turned off no problems. BiffSteel Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Soundgarden, I turned off fastwrites, all seemed well - was able to make it through COD2 demo a few times. Played Battlefield 2, got through farther then I had in the past, then BSoD. Going back to COD2, now getting BSoDs. I think I will return the video card and try another manufacturer. toddipoo Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Try using diffrent drivers. Last hope I would try but it sounds like you have a faulty card -toddi
learners permit Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 First off did you run drive cleaner and clear your drive and registry of ATI drivers and software?
muckipup Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I know that it is probably stating the obvious but these are intensive games and force a lot of heat to be generated which can eventually BSOD with any number of messages. I solved mine by by getting the latest game patches and pulling back on the overclock (graphics and processor) [EDIT: I see you don't OC but point remains about heat]. May be worth doing this and opening your case for cooling if only to rule this out. The point about using Driver Cleaner (follow instructions supplied with app!) is also very valid! There is a separate power molex that goes into your card, right? - may be worth double checking that too and use Memtest on the RAM. BiffSteel Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 - I've used drivers going back to version 5.03, same result for all. - Did not use Driver Cleaner before inserting the 6800 card. The bad news is that the PATA 100 hd no longer boots up, not even in safe Mode. Now forced to use the SATA hd. - Have not tried opening the case to cool off; will try it; also have a 120mm fan in the back of the case which I will crank the RPMs up via a Zalman FanMate II. Yes, there is a separate Molex for the card and I've tried several, same result.
BiffSteel Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Opened the case and cranked the 120 fan up, eventually got BSoD :-(
BiffSteel Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Have been doing research into this issue I'm having and have found a very interesting thread on the nVidia forum. It seems that a lot of people (more than I suspected) are having issues with the nf3 250gb chipset and the nVidia 6800 series video card. On the otherhand, there are posts in the forum where people say that they are not having problems. It does not appear that there is any one solution, what works for one person does not work for another. nVidia forum here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=126 The first post is quite good, cloudraker spent a lot of time, and money, trying to resolve. Note: there are 11 pages worth of posts. The first post dates back to November of last year!

Guest shaolin95 Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 what are your temps Samoa? I got one that idles at 53C. What are your overclocks and any benchies. Regards
Samoa Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I got it down to 60C idle 70C load. I'm looking at getting a koolance water block for it. A friend has the NF4/PCIE version of my setup. His temps are a bit lower. Benches I've not done really, just everything I've done so far has more than met expectations. I got like 27000 in 3Dmark2001SE. I don't care for 03 or 05 versions as at least 05 requires too much of an install IMO. I like using Media player 8.
