1nspired Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Ok, so I initially built the computer following the initial build sticky and everything went great. It loaded up and gave me an error about a boot disk if I'm remembering correctly. So, I turned it off and preceeded to put everything into my case. After I had everything plugged in I turned it on but this time I just got 4 red led lights (something wrong with CPU i think) and a blank screen. I tried resetting the CMOS following another thread, starting the computer while holding the insert key and everything else I could find in the forums. So, after nothing worked, I unhooked everything took the mb out of the case and tried it again like it was the initial build. I just had the memory (1 stick in the orange slot closest to the edge), cpu/heatsink/fan, keyboard (not on usb), video card, and all four power connectors connected. Whenever I turned it on, I still got the same problem. Four red LED lights and a blank screen. Did I fry the board when I was putting it in somehow? What should I do? Thanks for the help. EdLSmith Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 The Ultra-D is a really super board, but it can drive you toward insanity. I was at a simular point on mine several months back. I have since really learned the clear CMOS instructions and their value. I keep a pair of long nose pliers on my computer desk for only purpose of moving the CMOS jumper back and forth. Have you become aquainted with this important maneuver? Perhaps you need to. The BIOS becomes corrupt at the least deficiency in adjustments that you can seldom be sure of. It is essential to your mental health to be able to Flash BIOS and to clear CMOS! You could add a little to your sig like BIOS Version; how you cool your Venice; actual Genie BIOS settings. 4 red leds indicate that POST is starting and it is looking for a CPU. Do a relook at the CPU and HSF to see if a reason for this failure is visible. How about all 4 power connections on the board. Don't let the bastard get you down, smile, stretch and figure out where you want the new window. There are a lot of details to this build, so patience and try again. 1nspired Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Thanks for the reply. I have no idea what my BIOS version is since the monitor now stays blank :/ I've tried resetting the CMOS serveral times to no avail too. I let it go for about 20 minutes and that didn't work, so now I'm going to let it go over night. How did you get your system to work? I don't know but i wouldn't speak of a super board under those conditions!!
Meltdown Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Have you got all four power leads plugged in? Have you tried to re-seat the CPU?

Boppo Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I doubt you fried your board. Have you taken your CPU out and inspected it for bent pins or other signs of damage? What Heatsink are you using?
