SumiXaM Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Okay, so I used the CD by TMod. I gotta say, it is really nice, very user friendly. But I must have just freaked out because its my first time flashing. So I wanted to flash to Tony's new BIOS, so I go to the option, press enter and it starts flashing, and after it finished it was like eject disc and press F1. But I freaked and just pressed F1 not knowing if I was supposed to eject CD. I thought that it was running off the CD, so ejecting it would not be good, so my comp restarted and I got 3 LEDS and the long beeps. I started thinking and saying, Oh ., what have I done, I think I just fried my motherboard (and fatherboard). ahhhhhhhhhhh. So I quickly cleared CMOS with the jumper and changed the ram slots to yellow. It booted into the BIOS, and I reset defaults, and it booted up fine. Nice BIOS Tony, good job, I like the layout. But man that gave me quite a scare. Maybe TMod can be nice enough to tell me how to do it correctly. Man, I know this makes me look noob, but I am one and if I wanna learn, you guys gotta teach me
Guest Tmod Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 SumiXaM, Well you came through ok and that is what counts. With my CD (Or any other method) after the flashing is complete you can remove the CD and then just remove power from the system (Turn it off) The you should clear the CMOS in the following manner. (1) Remove power from the system (2) Remove CMOS battery (3) Move CMOS clear jumper to clear position (4) Wait about 10 minutes (5) Move CMOS jumper back to normal position (6) Re-install CMOS battery (7) Reapply power to the system (8) Restart the system (9) Enter bios setup and load optimized defaults and save & exit (10) Reboot system (11) Enter bios again and setup for your configuration save & exit (12) Reboot system and enjoy These are the steps that should be taken when flashing any bios. Hope this helps!! Tmod
SumiXaM Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Thanks, yeah, I agree, I got through and I am writing this message from my computer So when the flash is complete, remove CD and then just turn the PSU off, or should I press the power button on the front of my case (Lian Li PC-60). Thanks for the guide. Man, I was so scared, you can't even imagine. I think my pulse went up to like 250 (not to exagerate too much). Thanks TMod. And great job on CD. Guest Tmod Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 So when the flash is complete, remove CD and then just turn the PSU off, or should I press the power button on the front of my case (Lian Li PC-60). You can just hit the power switch on the front and then remove the power cord. Yeah the first time you flash the bios you do get a little shaky!
