Guest xeon Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 I've recently bought a good oldie so i thought. The 875P-T according to pcstats.com this was the best thing on the market with a combination of AGP & socket 775. Today i fired my newly bought P4 640 up. It started until i saw a message : "Updating ECSD", according to a thread this problem can be fixed by flashing the bios. At this moment the board had 01/09/2004 bios and i think this is causing the problem, i think the 640 is not recognised by ESCD. Question : Will the 6xx be supported after the flash or do i need to disable another setting to have a go at 4.4ghz ... Which are the best FSB & Voltage settings to get that speed? I've tried to mail another guy on the forum but it seems i haven't got the appropriate rights for it yet. I hope u guys can help me, Frank Vanderijdt @ belgium
red930 Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 You will need a BIOS upgrade in or to support any 6xx CPU. Your best bet is to borrow a non-EM64T 5xx CPU and run it to perform the BIOS update.
Guest xeon Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I can see the update screen, so i need a 5xx cpu to get the job done ? Ok let's check ebay then
Guest xeon Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Just wanna tell u IT WORKS even without a non EMT64 cpu. I've contacted Wendell Smith from DFI.nl and he told me to go ahead since my motherboard seemed to recognice a certain 3.2Ghz processor and booted until "Updating ESCD", this meant the boot worked but the older bios from 2004 didn't recognised the EMT64 cpu and halted there. he did send me the 922 bios and i did try it out...worked fine... problem solved after 2 days of panic. I just want to thank the dfi crew, never had such support is my whole computer-life. Now let's c what my baby can do...
