nibean Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 I am waiting until Nov.5th to order a new video card and was reading through these forums to do preventavie maintenance before I can plug in the video card and roll. I only build a new computer every 2-2.5 years and I want to build them to last and still be kinda fresh when the 2.5yr's are past. DFI Lanparty RD200 AMD64 4800+X2 OCZ PC4000 CL2 512X2 Xion 600psu ATI X1800XT <---when it's released nov 5th. This mobo gave me room to expand over it's life. I have room to add RAID-0,5 and CrossFire in the next 2 years if things start to slow down. I wanted to compair with guys running simular setups. I have read about problems with RAM bus speed not recognised and this is throwing up a red flag for me because PC3200 would probably be more hassle free of a config than faster RAM. Guys any imput will be appreciated because I have 1500.00 sitting in the floor of my office with no video card. I can't boot it because my old video card is AGP. I have no doubts I picked the fastest mobo made by human hands, I'm sure this board will run like a screaming ape when all the bugs are worked out. I'm just trying to get a heads up on trouble shooting this setup when I connect a video card. nibean

nibean Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Thanks for the PSU guide. I was looking at the cpu cooler guides also. Is the HS/fan combo that comes with my 4800+ not going to work? It has heat pipes and looks like a good cooler but I'm new to AMD cpu's. Sorry for the newb Q's
Heretic Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 It's a decent cooler, but most aftermarket coolers will perform better (provide lower temps and/or produce less noise). If you're not planning on OC'ing much, you'll probably be fine with the stock cooler.
