iggyweb Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I am thinking of getting the OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Platinum Edition Dual Channel Kit which runs at 3-3-2-8 @ 500MHz DDR which is supposedly one of the faster modules on the market. But I have just noticed another thread with OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 2x1024MB Dual Channel Platinum which runs at 2-3-2-5 @ 400MHz DDR. Now I currently have OCZ EL DDR PC-3700 2 x 512MB Dual Channel Gold Rev 3 *EOL running at 2.5-3-3-6 @ 234HTT, which one is going to get me the best results, any other suggestions would be much appreciated. I am also thinking about replacing my Theraltake Big Typhoon with WaterChill Antarctica CPU/VGA/Chipset Power kit - KT12A-12VX [12V/10mm/Triple Rad] so would like to get from 2.81GHz to 3GHz, so the memory will obviously play a big part here. cacophony Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Your wrong about the speeds. Although they say DDR400 as in 400mhz, it's speed is 200mhz. DDR500 is 250mhz . I prefer to work in Bits (PC3200 etc) as it's more easier to say that way. I'd go with the DDR500 for overclocking as it can handle higher speeds, because the stock FSB/LDT speed is 200mhz. . So therefore is you gonna overclock it to actually DDR500 speeds, you'll most probably gonna have to overclock your cpu....unless you change the dividor on the RAM. Which i'm kinda gathering you knew since your an overclocker....but for newbs reading the post . Anyways. I'd go the DDR500.
iggyweb Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Do you think if I get the 2GB DDR500 I will notice any significant performance increase over the current 1GB setup I have now. Its just before I had 1GB with an FX55 now I have an X2 4800+ and I am just trying to get my system to be the best it can be. What are your thoughts?
