Problems installing CatalystCC.....

Recommended Posts

First of all HI!!!! I was refered to this site from extremeoverclocking.com. I hope you can help!

Rig in sig. I just bought this board. Properly installed everything (fresh install of windows, chipset drivers etc) and rebooted. I attempted to install the Catlyst 5.10 drivers and the control center wouldnt install. It gave some '1237' error I have never seen and didnt really offer any information (I am VERY computer literate FYI). thinking it was a corrupted DL, I went back (after uninstalling w/Driver Cleaner in safe mode and rebooting) to a known good 5.9 w/CCC file on my HDD. It didnt work either. The drivers are installed, just not the CCC so I cant put my card to performance for benching and quality for gaming.....

HELP! I would like to fix this without reinstalling Windows again.

Have you installed .net framework and .net updates from microsoft?

It is needed for the catalyst to properly install.

that may be it. Although I have updates on Auto, rebooted a few times, and am not getting anymore updates.

Im not getting that error (or anything that refers to .net xxxxx). But its a different direction to go..... I'll keep you posted. Thanks! :D

EDIT: And how the heck do you flash this BIOS? Its not as easy as Asus and there isnt ANY documentation....

. net isn't a critical or security update, so it doesn't come through auto update..

On the DFI site when you search for the bios you will see a Diamond flash image. Grab that it is a auto execute program it will prepare a floppy with all the right command lines so that all you have to do is boot from the floppy and let it do it's thing.. After it flashes do not reboot just shut down. Then clear the cmos in this manner. Turn off power, remove CMOS battery, move jumper for 2 to 3 minutes then put it back, install battery power up to bios and load optimised default, save and exit then you can tweak till your hearts content.. Doing this way will insure all previous bios settings are removed and will avoid any possible glitches..

Thanks again... I will also do that tonight when I get home!!!

And whats with Smart Gaurdian? It says my CPU is at 40C idle and 58C load? On my Asus mobo (K8V-X) and MBM5 I got 30C/44C with a similar o/c and ambient temps. The AS5 and HS/F were installed properly I assure you. At 58C I should start having stability issues but Im rock solid. Also my HS isnt hot to the touch like 58C should be. Its warm, but thats about it. Now my NB on the other hand is noticeably warmer than the CPU even with a 40mm fan on it (I know the NB runs warm on this chipset). So im thinking its switched. check out the screeny. I think PWIC or w/e is my processor, system is normal, and CPU is my NB... Is that possible.. let me attach a screeny. Mind you Im at stock CPU voltage.

and in everest.. the CPU and mobo appear swapped..........

I will DL those files to MBM5 and try that tonight also to see... but still.

Yes it does and allows you to utilize bank interleave on the mem for a significant bandwidth increase probably at a slighty lower o/c.
Interesting.. I never heard that one before..... :)

Sandra measures that yes?
