Stability issues when running LP nF4 24/7?

Recommended Posts

How many of you run your Lanparty nF4 24/7 stable? Or have had issues? Just wondering because I read in a review (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NzE3LDc=) that the Lanparty nF4 boards don't do well running 24/7 and I have my current rig running all the time since I do folding.

Thoughts?

I run mine for days at a time with no stability issues. If you noticed in the review, they installed ntune and the ide drivers (although they supposedly addressed this with the latest release). No doubt they also installed the nvidia firewall when it popped up at the end of the nvidia driver install. All of these have been known to cause inumerable problems. Just something to keep in mind...and outta curiousity, what country is Oblivion located in? It's a forum rule...

I run mine for days at a time as well. However, when I do lots on it, it tends to bog down. ITs amlost like its not releasing memorry after a program is done using it. Im not sure if its just my imagination, or if its because i leave it running.

Ah, yes that makes sense. I tend to skip stuff when I read - which is why my location is incorrect. Well, not incorrect but... I just figured forum rules are pretty much the same everywhere so I just glanced at them (at least I did take a peek). I think I have the most important bases covered though - and I'll update along the way.

@tweak50: I believe that's pretty normal with most any system. Have you tried something like Cacheman?

@angry_games: Proving that review wrong! I assume you are not using the IDE drivers nor the nVidia firewall then? (and btw, don't you have the best job!!!)

I've heard about these issues and wasn't planning on installing any of these. The IDE drivers are known to cause issues on nForce2 boards as well, which is what I'm using atm.

As for nTune - tried it once and was appalled, although it does have a few useful functions like the ability to change RAM timings on the fly.

That clarifies things for me! Thanx all!

btw, where is Faroffistan? ;)
