Can Anyone Help A Clueless Noob?

I have a Pavillion ze5170 notebook and I recently dropped it (go figure). It seems to be running fine, however, the minor dent (a millimeter or so distortion in the plastic case) is RIGHT on the little vent in the center of the back of the unit. There is a very small fan inside there that rests at an angle, and it doesn't seem to be spining. However, I do not know what that fan is to, and I don't know wether or not it's supposed to spin all the time or if it only comes on when a certain part reaches a certain temperature. There are two other fans on the unit, both on the left side (as you face the keyboard) one in the middle and another behind it at the back of the unit, both ahve intakes in the bottom and out vents on the left side of the unit. The middle one seems to be running fine and warm to hot air comes out, the one in the back also does not seem to be doing anything. When I run the diagnostic, after running the computer for about 15-30 minutes, the CPU temperature reads between 54 and 55C. That sounds hot to me, but I don't know anything about laptops, does anyone know what the normal heat ranges are for these kind of computers, what those fans go to, and/or is there is an easy way to replace them? (HP wants $270 just to look at it, even if there's nothing wrong!!) I've looked online but I can't find anything about the cooling setups in this unit.

I also have a desktop that I plan on OCing as soon as I get some backup parts, so you guys may hear more from me soon :)

well welcome to the club so after 20 min its 54c so does it climb up and thats where it stops as far as laptops go thats ok just as long as its under 60 your ok that fan your talking about is the fan that is triggered by tempeture so watch your temps and make sure they dont get to high and your ok if they get so hot that fan is suppose to come on you might try to pry the plastic away from the fan and see if it will come on
