d889 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I originally built my system with the specs in my signature, but just now I added another pair of 512MB PC4800 into my system to complete 2 gigs of RAM. I changed all of the timings and booted up the system, all 4 sticks of RAM in, but the BIOS, Windows, everything only shows that I have 1 gig of RAM. So right now I have 2 OCZ600512ELPE RAM for the first gig, and a 2x512 kit OCZ6001024ELDCPE-K for my second pair, and only 1 gig shows up. Anyone have any clue as to what is going on, another forum said that the timings might be different on the RAM, could this be true? The timings in running are: 200 auto 16 16 auto 100 disable 1.450v 1.300v above VID 113% 1.20v 1.60v 2.6V +0.3 if not 3.2V = enabled DRAM Config 166 disable 2.5 3 10 3 16 19 2 2 2 3 1560 auto enabled auto 0 Level 5, 7, or 8 level 2 8ns normal 5ns or 6ns 256 disable 16 07 disable Also, this is what my specs are with all 4 sticks of RAM in: AMD 3200+ Venice @ stock speeds DFI Lanparty 4 Ultra-D (3/10 BIOS) 4x512 OCZ DDR600 @ 200mhz 2.5-3-3-10 2.9v 36.6 Raptor Leadtek 6800GT
Squid1 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Hm, you certainly have conservative enough settings. 2.5-3-3-10 2T should do any OCZ RAM. Try CAS 3, but that''s probably not it. Did you see anything else than Windows report only 1 GB?
d889 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I just took a quick look at cpu-z and found something out. Under the memory tab it shows the memory size as 2 gigs and the timings as 2.5 3 3 10. Under SPD however, slots 1 and 2 come up as OCZ6001024ELDCPE-K and the SPD timings are 2.5 6 6 16. Slots 3 and 4 come up as OCZ600512ELPE and the timings are 3.0 4 4 8, could that be the problem? yahooad Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 i didnt think you could mix ram ? so CPU-Z sees the other ram, but windows is only recognising 1gb of it ?
Squid1 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 What does memtest say? Of course you can mix RAM on the different channels.

dvothecc Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I had the same problem trying to run 4x512, during boot and in windows it would show only 1gig but in cpuz it showed the full 2gig. I found out later that the 2 sets of sticks have to be identical for 4x512 to work together, even though both sets did 240mhz stable @2,2,2,5 with 3.3v it just wasn't enough. So I went out and bought another set of OCZ PC3200 VX. First made sure they were able to do 240@2,2,2,5 which they did, then put the two sets togeather and now both during bootup and in windows it shows the full 2gig! Of course all this is with 2T. ramdor Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I take it you have pair 1 in slots 1 + 3 and pair 2 in slots 2 + 4 ? Richie.

Damn I guess I am stuck with only 1 gig for now, I bought the 2nd set of RAM to use while I RMA'd one and now I can't return it, so I guess it's ebay time haha. Boppo Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Actually I do not believe you can mix memory types even in the difference pairs. My understanding is that to run 4 sticks you have to have four of the same type.
Squid1 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Actually I do not believe you can mix memory types even in the difference pairs. My understanding is that to run 4 sticks you have to have four of the same type. No they don't. I do that all the time, even on my DFI board. Just last week I had my Kingston Value ECC together with my Geil One TCCD in the SLI-DR. Works fine, dual channel and all. (Note that Kingston value ECC is actually pretty good RAM). Back to the topic of this post, you need to consult a different OS to see whether this is a WIndows problem. Booting a memtest86 CD counts as different OS, or download a Linux or BSD live CD. Boppo Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Have you tried a BIOS newer than the 3/10 you list?
