ansiktsburk Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I recently bought a Razer Copperhead USB mouse, which had some problems. After speaking with their technical support they pointed out that my problems may be due to an IRQ conflict. As you can see in this picture, both USB ports are sharing IRQs. I spent quite a while trolling Google to see what I could do. I came to the conclusion I needed to re-install Windows selecting "Standard PC" rather than "ACPI", which I did. However, I still can't change IRQs in Device Manager, the "Use automatic settings" box is ticked and greyed out. In BIOS I disabled ACPI. Nothing i've tried allows me to change the IRQs in Device Manager. Basically what I want to do is make it so that both USB ports are on their own IRQ, with no other devices. How can I do this? bldegle2 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 what you are seeing is normal, and i don't think you can change it. in all my setups, USB shares...............................and i believe it is the leading problem with USB 2.0 and large data transfers....................................... as far as the USB mousey goes, it just may be a conflict with their drivers and your chipset, rarely does this happen with modern components though but it could be a possibility, have you considered trying a different copperhead unit, just in case there is a problem with the mousey proper???? i would be highly interested myself if you find a way to switch the IRQ's on the USB. good luck. baldy
AlienKing Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 If you are not using the built in SIL3114 or the Firewire ports, you can disable them in the BIOS. That way there won't be anything to conflict with.
ansiktsburk Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Having both the Graphics Card and the Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller on the same IRQ is a little bit bad though isn't it. How could I fix that particular one?
Connector Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Try to disable as many devices (that you don't use) as possible in the BIOS: e.g Raid Controller, Firewire, Serial+ Parallel+ Infrared ports ...see if it helps Connector
Kolasdola Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 It appears I have the same problem (or similar). After flashing 6/23 and installing newest nVidia drivers it seems that I have 3 devices sharing IRQ 11 (one of them being display controller). It leads to constant crashes and so far I have not been able to prevent it. When I try to load in Safe Mode the files run through the screen and get stuck on acpitabl.dat file (even thoguh Windows do eventually load). So I suspect it is something to do with ACPI/IRQ. I have checked my Ram, I am running on a single 6800GT card (and I have tried both separately so I am pretty sure it is not the card). I am at a loss at this point.
