quick question

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna flash my bios to 704-2BTA and change my video card. Not at the same time, to be on the safe side (control vice)

I know the steps for flashing - using flashxpress and after that:

After the BIOS flash:

every time you flash to a new bios, it is very important to clear the old BIOS settings out this way:

- Once the BIOS flash has finished turn the PC off.

- Remove the computer's power cable or the motherboard's ATX power block.

- Pull CMOS battery.

- Clear the CMOS using the JBAT jumper. Leave it there for 10 minutes.

- Then put the CMOS jumper back to the save position

- Replace battery

- When you Power the PC enter the BIOS.

- Load optimized defaults.

- Save and exit.

- Boot back to bios and now you can change settings to your liking.

It is very important that you clear the previous CMOS RELOADED SETTINGS.

I think which one I'm going to change first doesn't matter(vga or flashing) however should I clear cmos after I change my video card?

Might be something to consider if you had overvolted or upped the bus speed of your original card in BIOS but is normally not necessary otherwise.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to bring both my vga and bios to default settings before going further.
