espn2829 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I want to buy a DFI Lanparty Ultra-D or the SLI board and I have narrowed it down to 4 power supplies. Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103931 Antec TruePower 2.0 TP2-550 EPS12V 550W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103932 Antec TruePower 2.0 TRUECONTROL II-550 550W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103933 Out of all these, which is the best power supply for a heavily overclocked system? I want to overclock a lot of components in my pc. Thanks

espn2829 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I've read that before. My question is are those three power supplies good enough for a heavily overclocked system? And which is the best one out of those? Thanks
e to the x Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 They all have dual rails so they should all be decent OCers. If you want to make sure you don't have voltage dips the true control would probably be the best.
davidhammock200 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Get the EPS for future compatibility.
espn2829 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 thanks for the suggestions, guys. I don't like to adjust settings on the power supply, so the TrueControl is not worth it then? Also why EPS Truepower over the other TruePower?
davidhammock200 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 thanks for the suggestions, guys. I don't like to adjust settings on the power supply, so the TrueControl is not worth it then? Also why EPS Truepower over the other TruePower? Because it has an EPS connector that you will need for the next generation of DFI N4's. The "control panel" for the voltage adjustments is just too easy to mess-up!
espn2829 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Cool, then the TrueControl is out of the equation. How do the Truepower series stack up against the OCZ Powerstream 520W? the OCZ is one my choices, its either that or the Truepower. both are the same price
ExtraPickles Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 It's a no brainer at the same price point... go OCZ. -pickles

Slammin Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I'd have to say OCZ PS520 as well. I have personally experienced overclock instabilitity with two Antec 430's and a X-Connect 500 psu. This was on my Abit Max3 w/P4 [email protected]. After going to a PS 520, everything stabilized. On this rig, DFI LP UT DR SLI, 3800X2@2800, 2x XFX 7800GTX, I bought another OCZ PS 520 and it runs just as stable. Having the ability to adjust the rails is a plus, though I have never had to do that yet. This PSU really does seem to handle anything you throw at it. newguy Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I remember when I first set up my rig, I am using a X-connect 500 PSU, haha within a week it blown dead. So, I won't trust those Ultra anymore. I am just start using the TrueBlue II 550W, not bad but I still can't play BF2.
